The Plague Spreads

Scene 1

Who: Captain Jonathan Perish (POV), his officers, and soldiers; Lieutenant Alexander McPherson, Lieutenant Benjamin Weaver, Sergeant Marcus Johnson, Private Samuel Taylor

Where: Ohio 1790 AD, Army camp

Time and Weather: Midday, sunny

Opening: Jonathan is sitting in his tent, going over the numbers and trying to figure out how to keep his men supplied when he is interrupted by one of his officers bringing news of a serious illness in the camp.

Peak emotional moment: Jonathan is frustrated that Congress has not provided the necessary funds and supplies to take care of his men, and now he must deal with a crisis that could have been prevented.

Ending: Jonathan immediately springs into action and orders his officers to gather information about the sick soldier and the potential source of the illness. He knows that he must act quickly to prevent the illness from spreading and to keep his men safe.
